Size: A4, 62 pages, Numerous old black and white pictures and diagrams. The book - The Great George Liver Clock, is a historical account of the events and work that went into the design, manufacture and installation of the famous Clock on Liverpool's Royal Liver Building. The 62 pages detail how Gent & Co, having only just entered the field of Electrical Horology, faced the challenge of providing a four faced 25ft diameter dial Electrical Turret Clock with dials on two separate towers, capable of maintaining accuracy and synchronisation on all faces. The clock hands being exposed, required movements the size of which in electrical timekeeping had never been attempted previously and dials, which exceeded "Big Ben" by two and a half feet in diameter. The story of the project contains design details, costings and accounts of the stages of manufacture with copies of original drawings by I H Parsons and photographs from glass slides taken by A E J Ball. Additional information has been researched from surviving Gent records and the author's own collection. It is a fascinating story and a tribute to the people who worked on the project in producing a long lasting and world famous Electrical Horological achievement.
